Fractions can cause dread in lots of pupils but it's a topic you just can't afford to avoid.For one, it links to so many other areas of maths.It accounts for a HUGE amount of marks in the Year 6 SATs testsIt appears a lot in secondary school and ultimately the GCSEsSome studies show that an ability to grasp fractions early on is a good predictor of long term math achievement. Grasping fractions really depends on some good solid foundations being built.
